Building Trauma-Informed Services for Children, Youth, and Parents Impacted by Domestic Violence

Building Trauma-Informed Family-Centered Services for Children & Parents (Webinar 5)

Wednesday, October 8 | 2:00 – 3:30pm (CST)

Susan Blumenfeld, MSW, LCSW
Child Trauma Training Director
National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma & Mental Health

Domestic violence programs offer critically important services for survivors and their children. Often, these services are geared towards either supporting adult survivors or addressing the needs of children and teens. This webinar provides hands-on practical information and examines how to bridge this divide in services. We will look at how to enhance our supports to adult survivors who are parenting and create more family-centered services within our programs.

This webinar is the second part of a two-part webinar offering an overview of an approach for providing interdisciplinary trauma-informed support groups for women who are affected by substance abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of trauma and oppression.

Part two describes specific topics and offers materials, making it easier for substance abuse counselors and advocates to provide trauma-informed support groups for women experiencing domestic violence, substance abuse coercion, and/or a substance use disorder. Group materials are both educational and practical and can be provided in multiple treatment settings as well as in advocacy programs. The group handout materials can also be used in 1-1 counseling sessions as well as in informational lecture series.

The recording for Part 1 is now available on this directory page.
