2020 Webinar Series Domestic Violence, Trauma, and Substance Use |
Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery Support Systems
Monday, March 30, 2020
3:00 pm – 4:30 pm EDT | 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm CDT | 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm MDT

Survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault experience increased barriers to safe, accessible, and effective substance use disorder treatment. Additionally, treatment and recovery services can be difficult to locate, access, and understand, especially as an advocate working outside of these systems. This webinar will provide an introduction to substance use disorder treatment and recovery support systems, including how to locate resources, ask about trauma-informed gender-responsive services, and build collaborations with community-based providers.
Who should attend?
This webinar is appropriate for anyone who wants to become more familiar with the formal substance use disorder treatment system and/or recovery support services, and has been specifically tailored for people responding to the needs of DV/SA survivors (and their children, when applicable).
Presented by:
Gabriela Zapata-Alma, LCSW, CADC
Director of Policy & Practice for Domestic Violence & Substance Use, National Center on Domestic Violence, Trauma and Mental Health
