Training and Technical AssistanceThe Center provides training and technical assistance that focuses on the needs of survivors of domestic violence, and their children, who are experiencing the traumatic effects of domestic violence and other lifetime abuse.
The Center offers:
v Information about program models;
v Updates and synthesis of current research and information on emerging evidence-based and promising practices;
v Curricula, educational tools, and training materials for advocates and mental health providers on responding to survivors experiencing the mental health effects of domestic violence and other lifetime trauma and/or psychiatric disability, working with children exposed to violence, and supporting parenting capacity and attachment;
v Training designed to assist both domestic violence advocacy networks and mental health systems on how to provide appropriate, accessible, and culturally-relevant services to survivors of domestic violence who are experiencing trauma and/or mental illness;
v Consultation on the strengths and needs of local, state, tribal, and national systems;
v Policy recommendations and information on critical issues via position papers, teleconferences, consultations, and symposia;
v Assistance with the identification of allies and opportunities to improve public policy; and
v Periodic policy updates on the Center web site.
